Another Day In The Life
As I maneuvered my way through the HUB, I stopped dead in my tracks after coming upon a table with a big banner across the front titled, "The Humane Society." Since I left my apartment approximately 7 minutes earlier than I had to for a Family Relations captain meeting in the HUB, I luckily had a few minutes to spare. Approaching the table, I was greeted by two students with welcoming, glowing smiles. They asked me to sign their petition to pledge to go meatless on Mondays, and explained that millions have recently taken the pledge to show their compassion for animals. Without a second thought, I quickly scribbled my name down, and proceeded to spark up a conversation about how I was a vegetarian, and a recurrent follower of PETA's blog. Before you know it, I was having an in-depth conversation with two strangers about my life as a vegetarian for the past 12 years from start to finish. Completely losing track of time, I was stunned to check my cell phone's clock and realize I was already 15 minutes late to my meeting, (on the 3rd floor nonetheless). I grabbed all the vegetarian brochures, pamphlets, stickers, and pins my arms could carry, and with that, I was back to reality. Flying frantically up the stairs two at a time, I couldn't help but crack a little smile. Just another typical day in the life of a vegetarian ...
